BLOOMZ:What is Bloomz? It makes it easy for Teachers to safely share photos, classroom updates and reach parents instantly through real-time messaging. Code: 2018-2019 Coming Soon:)) Agenda:Each student will be given a student agenda to use on a daily basis. Homework will be written on the board each day. Students will be given time during the day to copy down their homework assignments. You are asked to review their agenda and homework to assure that all assignments are complete. The agenda is another great way for us to keep in touch. Students are to have their agenda initialed every night. Reading Logs:Students are expected to read a minimum of 30 minutes each night. This nightly reading should be recorded in your child's agenda. Your child will also read independently for 30 minutes in class. It is important for your child to read in order to build endurance reading longer selections. Your child should bring home a chapter book or a non-fiction book on his/her reading level each night. Students are encouraged to read over the weekend, especially if he/she is not meeting their weekly reading goal. If your child reads over the weekend, please mark down the total time read in their agenda and initial. Wednesday Folders "Gator Folder":I send home student work and important notes in a special folder every Wednesday. I will send home some assessments that need to be signed by a parent and returned for the child's portfolio. These papers will be identified. These folders need to be checked, signed, and returned the next day. Please ask your child to show you this folder every Wednesday. Attendance:Students need to be in the classroom and unpacked by 8:00 am. Class starts promptly at 8:05. Please make appointments for after lunch or afterschool, so your child doesn't miss core instructional time. If your child is absent, please send a note explaining his or her absence when he or she returns to school. Until a note is sent in, your child's absence will be marked as unexcused. Students are responsible for getting their missed assignments and making up their work. If you know that your child will be out for an extended time, please call/email me to make arrangements to pickup their assignments. Home/School Communication:I will send home newsletters and notes to let you know of upcoming events. If you have a concern you would like to discuss, please write me a note, send me an email, or text me through bloomz and I will get back to you during my planning time or after school. You may also call and leave a message for me at 444-5150. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org . Volunteers:Volunteers are needed at various times of the year. Please remember that you must go through the volunteer screening process (online paperwork) before you are able to visit the classroom or go on any field trip. Scholastic Book Club:Book club order forms go home each month. Book orders are an excellent way to build up your child's library fairly inexpensively. Please do not feel obligated to participate each time. I usually send 3-4 forms home each time to provide you with variety. Please make the check/money order payable to the Scholastic Book Club. Send all checks and money orders back in a labeled baggie or envelope. If you would like to order online, our class code is: GLCZW
